Service stinks (disappearing and combative waiter) and food beyond mediocre. Every dime of their mark-up goes towards the insane real estate overhead and not the food. They have to be dumb too: $72 for Peking Duck at Tao that feeds two people.or better Peking Duck for 6-8 people at Sun Wah for $40. For this place to work, the crowd mustn't know where to get it better otherwise. As for the winner items that tasted good? Yellowtail jalapeno was sliced so thin that eating it is over so fast that you realize you need to order another just to feel proper. Had to send salad back for complete lack of taste altogether. Try Crisp in Chicago to experience true experts at fried chicken that is done right at 10x less. The friend chicken wings for example were the kind where the skin slips off the chicken and on to your lips as you bite.fatty poorly cooked skin that just wasn't fried properly. all at about 5x the price of what anything would cost elsewhere. You have to remember: it's a Chinese restaurant that serves sushi. Even when we said "we'd like to figure it out as we go along.".it was met with downright harrassment. Our waiter demanded we order everything up front. The food was amazing and service impeccable! I highly recommend TAO Chicago for a unique and memorable dining experience.Īn additional star for the obvious: the decor. Granddaughter had the giant fortune cookie filled with chocolate mousse on one side and white chocolate mousse on the other surrounded by fresh fruit (cookie actually comes with a fortune tucked inside). For dessert, we shared the molten chocolate cake with salted caramel ice cream. No bread or salad is served with entrees and sides are a la carte. My husband had the orange chicken and a side of triple pork rice. We ordered several small plates of shishito peppers, edamame, lobster and crab spring rolls and satay of Chilean sea bass which was excellent! I had glazed salmon served over a bed of haricots verts. The Asian inspired interior is stunning with a large staircase leading down to the main dining area. Our reservation was for 6:00 and the restaurant was already quite busy. On a recent trip to Chicago (our first), we took our granddaughter to the newly opened TAO Chicago to celebrate her birthday. The nightclub is open Thursday and Friday 10pm - 4am and Saturday 10pm - 5am. Combining breathtaking design, state-of-the-art special effects and world-class DJs and talent, Tao Chicago's nightclub is truly an unparalleled experience. Talent featured recently has included Alesso, Marshmello, Steve Aoki and The Chainsmokers to name just a few. The 2nd floor nightclub has been consistently named best in Chicago by media and guests alike, which becomes apparent the moment you step inside. Tao's menu is expertly curated by Executive Chef Michael Armstrong. Some of the most popular favorites include Tao's signature New York Strip Beef & Broccoli, Satay of Chilean Sea Bass and Lobster Fried Rice. Home to the most dramatic dining room in the city, the menu features Pan-Asian offerings from the sea, sky and land and an extensive sushi selection. Description: TAO Chicago is a design-driven restaurant and adjoining nightclub, located in a historic building in Chicago's vibrant River North neighborhood.
